James walked tiredly up the last few steps and into the owlery. He hadn't been for such a long time that he'd forgotten what it had looked like, and how big it was.The room, despite not being wide, had a very high ceiling and was absolutely packed with Owls of all shapes, colours and sizes. However, it didn't really interest him, so he pulled a piece of parchment out of his Pocket and tied it to a large, brown tawny owl's leg and watched it fly away with longing in his eyes. He had always wanted an owl but they were always way too expensive, like many things he had always wanted.
James was frustrated. He had another Potions Detention tonight and he was irritated with himself for not paying attention in class again. Still, at least it was only lines... Not concentrating on where he was going, James slipped on the stairs and fell down.

Dalila turned corridors and walked through hallways before she admitted she was once again lost. "Great" she muttered as she rounded another corridor only to find herself into a huge place full of owls. "I don't need owls! I need the Beauxbatons Carriage!" Dalila cried out in frustration. This all wasn't helping her too much.
Maybe she could send a letter to Madame Maxim to tell her she was stuck in Hogwarts and lost. And that at the moment she found herself in a room full of idiotic owls!
Only now Dalila seemed to have noticed someone else was in the room. "Dalila Martin. Nice to meet you" Dalila introduced herself, hoping she could ask him the way out of this darned castle named Hogwarts.

James looked up in surprise at the voice; evidently he hadn't noticed someone was there either. He saw a girl, obviously from Beauxbatons, standing there looking irritated with something. "Oh, hi. James Black" he said,"Can I help you?" He added, thinking that help was something she probably needed after only being at Hogwarts for a short time. It was a big place after all.
Black, where had Dalila heard that name before? Dalila could not place it but knew she'd heard of it. "You can, I'm lost... Once again" Dalila smiled sheepishly admitting it hadn't been the first time. "So what is this place?" Dalila asked, curious as to why there was a place full of owls. She suspected it was the place where people sent their letters from but she wasn't sure. So why not talk to the boy? He looked cute and not that rude.

"Well, it's the place where students send owls from if they don't have an owl of their own. These are all the school owls that anyone can use", replied James "But it doesn't look like you're here to send a letter, so where are you trying to get to?
He knew how Dalila felt; he had found it a nightmare trying to get around Hogwarts in his first year.
"I'm trying to find my way back downstairs" Dalila answered realizing how stupid it sounded. "I followed the stairs that go downstairs but one decides to move and get me back all the way up. As if it's trying to play with me" Dalila smiled, she must come over as a lunatic. Bah, not that she wasn't used to that. At Beauxbatons a phoenix had decided to learn and stole all of Dalila's books. The next day she had gotten them back and the phoenix hadn't seemed any wiser than before. Why was she thinking about this again? Oh right moving stairs. Now what did moving stairs have to do with Beaxbatons? Nothing. Merlin Dalila was homesick, or rather schoolsick. "We have a place like this in Beaxbatons too, only it's a huge place outside in the sun where there are all kinds of birds, not just owls." She smiled at James.
"I'm Belgian, so don't dare call me 'the French Girl' behind my back" Dalila warned him. She'd hear a few talk about her and refer to her as 'the little French Girl'. How she hated it. She was a Belgian! B E L G I A N not French! Sometimes people just decided to label others instead of asking and exploring what the person was like for themselves.
